What we keep, which is almost nothing

Last updated 19 September 2026

Price Disco has no accounts, no advertising, and nothing that follows you between apps or sites. Nothing is sold or handed to data brokers. We keep one short list of what people looked up, described below, and nothing else about you. What follows is the whole of it.

What leaves your device, and where it goes

  • The photo you take. It goes to the AI provider you chose — Anthropic or OpenAI — to identify the item, and to eBay if you publish a listing. We do not store it.
  • What you type. The short note about an item and the listing text you review travel with it, for the same purposes.
  • Search terms go to eBay to find comparable listings. For a graded card, the certificate number goes to PSA to look up its record.
  • A device identifier, but only on the free tier. It comes from Apple's App Attest and exists to hold a free allowance to one device. Starting a free trial also asks Apple, through DeviceCheck, whether this phone has had one before — Apple answers yes or no and tells us nothing else, and your phone is never named to us. It names no person, and if you use your own API key it is never sent at all.

What stays on your device

  • Your lookup history and photos, in the app's own storage on the phone.
  • Any API key you enter, and your eBay sign-in, in the iOS Keychain.

Your eBay tokens are yours. They pass through our server when eBay issues or renews them, because that exchange needs a secret the app deliberately does not carry — but they are neither stored nor logged there.

What our server keeps

The free tier runs through a small server of ours, which holds the API keys so the app does not have to. It keeps counters, and a list of the things people looked up:

  • How many lookups a device has made, against that App Attest identifier. A daily allowance is deleted after two days, because it has rolled over by then. A one-off free trial is a single small counter kept for as long as the trial lasts, up to 400 days, because a trial that forgot itself overnight would not be a trial.
  • A daily total of calls and cost for the service as a whole, with no device attached. Kept for a year.
  • The name of the item identified in a lookup — “Sony WM-EX600 Walkman”, its brand, its category and how sure the model was — so we can see what the app is used for, together with what answering it cost us: which model ran, how many tokens it used, and the price of each call. Deleted after 30 days. Nothing is stored beside it: no photo, no device identifier, no note you typed. It is filed under the random id of that one lookup, so two lookups of yours cannot be told apart from two lookups by two different people, and there is no way to assemble anyone’s history from it.

No photos, no typed notes, and no request or response bodies are stored at any point — only the item name described above, which is the model’s answer rather than anything you wrote. A lookup is identified only by a random id, which is never tied to your device.

Other people's privacy policies

Once your photo reaches a provider, their terms govern it: Anthropic, OpenAI, eBay.

Price Disco is not directed at children and knowingly collects nothing from them.

Changes, and asking us things

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date above changes with it. Questions, or a request to delete something, go to support@pricedisco.com — though for the most part there is nothing of yours for us to delete, which is the point.
